Body Butter, the gross weight of the container is 264g. The manufacturing process requires and filling process requires the product to be warm when filling to allow enough fluidity to pass through the nozzle without shearing/splitting the product. The foil and lids are applied after some cooling but the butter is still able to move, with the final consistency being achieved a number of days after manufacture. The container itself has the capacity to hold at up to 268ml, so a fill volume of 203ml, which is what our filling lines operate at, will give the appearance of being underfilled.

 

Our in-process checks on the lines involve taking samples at regular intervals to ensure that the 203ml fill volume is deviated from by more than 2ml. If such a deviation is to be found, the filling line is stopped, underfilled products are discarded and the machines recalibrated before filling continues.
